Sharpen your daggers. A Game of Thrones-themed banquet is coming to Melbourne in March, centred around the show’s infamous “Red Wedding” episode.
Organisers say the feast will be “fit for your last supper”, but here’s hoping you come out the other side in better shape than the Starks. The banquet will begin with snacks such as Mount Zero olives, Serrano prosciutto, Hungarian salami and Casalingo ham, and mains will include spice-rubbed Hazeldene chicken with charred broccolini and madeira jus, or slow-roasted grass-fed sirloin steak with potato puree and black mustard. For dessert, there’ll be cheese plates with quince paste, dried fruit and lavosh, and Belgian chocolate tarts.
Wine, bubbles and beer are included in the ticket price, but you may want to keep your wits about you, as interactive entertainment will form a large part of the three-hour feast. Costumes are strongly encouraged, so now’s the time to channel your inner Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow – though if the ending of the Red Wedding is anything to go by, it may be wise to wear something blood-proof.
There will be two sittings of the feast: one at lunch, from 12pm to 3pm, and a second for dinner, from 7pm to 10pm.
The Red Wedding Feast will be held on March 23 at Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn. Tickets cost $221.36 and are available here.
