Despite its stark contrast with other series in the long-running HBO franchise, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has emerged as a fan favourite. Both critics and fans have praised the shift in tone, the grounded storytelling and adherence to the source material. With the finale less than a week away, fans can’t help but wonder how long they have to wait to see more of Dunk and Egg.

While talking to the A.V. Club, Ira Parker said, “We are cutting some scenes together now, and the directors are seeing some of it, so it feels nice to see [season two] slowly come together.” Since the next season is already in post-production, the wait might be shorter than fans’ expectations.

Elsewhere, he also admitted that working on season 2 while the debut season is airing has been helpful. “The show coming out at the same time as we work on it has been a blessing in many ways. It allows you to do what Dunk does by putting one foot in front of the other to focus on the work instead of just focusing on the response,” he explained. The response in question has been great so far. In fact, IMDb ratings for episodes 4 and 5 are a stellar 9.7, as of this writing.

Ira Parker teased the casting of new characters in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 will be based on The Sworn Sword and introduce several new characters. In his chat with the A.V. Club, Parker opened up about what he is excited for the fans to see in the upcoming season.

He said, “We’re now getting into The Sworn Sword, which is my favorite novella in many ways, with Rohanne Webber or the Red Widow, Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace, who are these classic characters. I can’t say much but we have three absolutely brilliant actors coming in to do these roles. I’m excited.”  Given how strong the casting was in season 1, expectations are high that Season 2 will deliver an equally impressive lineup, if not an even better one.
