Season 2 entering early post-production
According to the showrunner, the team is “pretty deep into shooting now.” Work on new episodes is advancing rapidly, with some scenes already being cut together for review.
“We’re seeing some scenes get cut together. I’m still writing a little bit and still tweaking here and there. But everything is going very well.”
This positive momentum aligns with earlier comments that season 2 has moved into post-production phases. During a previous interview with A.V. Club, Ira Parker had made comments like,
“We are cutting some scenes together now, and the directors are seeing some of it, so it feels nice to see [season two] slowly come together.”
The overlapping schedule between season 1 airing and season 2 production proved beneficial for the show. It was described as “a blessing in many ways” that helped the team stay focused on the show’s creation instead of just focusing on the response.
Showrunner loves the cast and teases “very different” direction
The showrunner expressed strong enthusiasm for the returning as well as new characters.
“I love our cast this season. The team is doing some really cool stuff, and some very different stuff than we did in season 1.”
Season 2 adapts George R.R. Martin’s novella ‘The Sworn Sword’ and introduces three key new characters: Rohanne Webber (known as the Red Widow), Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace. The showrunner praised these incoming actors, stating,
“We have three absolutely brilliant actors coming in to do these roles. I’m excited.”
No official release date has been announced yet, but the rapid progress suggests fans won’t have to wait too long to rejoin Ser Duncan the Tall and young Aegon “Egg” Targaryen on their next journey.
