Fans of Game of Thrones will have to wait a little longer to return to Westeros. The Reason Behind the Delay
While HBO never set an official premiere date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Warner Bros. Discovery executives had initially suggested that the series would air by the end of 2025. However, during a recent upfront presentation at Madison Square Garden in New York City, HBO unveiled a first-look trailer, which confirmed the new 2026 release window (via Variety). HBO content chairman and CEO Casey Bloys further clarified that the show would arrive in winter 2026, indicating an early-year debut.

George R.R. Martin loves the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
The filming for the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already been completed. George R.R. Martin was thoroughly impressed with the Game of Thrones spinoff’s Season 1. He previously shared on his blog that he had watched all six episodes and loved them;
“A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, for starts. It’s done. Ira and his team wrapped the first season months ago, and moved right on to post-production. I’ve seen all six episodes now (the last two in rough cuts, admittedly), and I loved them. Dunk and Egg have always been favorites of mine, and the actors we found to portray them are just incredible. The rest of the cast are terrific as well. Wait until you guys meet the Laughing Storm. and Tanselle Too-Tall.”
