As we near the end of the show’s penultimate season, it’s time to face the inevitable: Game of Thrones won’t be around forever. Luckily, the folks at HBO accurately read the Westeros-hungry room, and are developing a handful of spinoff pilots. Though George R. R. Martin crushed our dreams for a show that’s all-Pod, all the time, as well as any hopes that the spinoffs currently in development will focus on any of the other Game of Thrones characters we’ve grown to love, a writer for one of the proposed new shows offered up a reassuring hint in an interview.

Jane Goldman, who co-wrote Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service, was talking to IGN when she gave a tantalizingly vague description of the show that she and George R. R. Martin are cooking up.

I think as a book reader or as someone who watched the series, you would say, “Oh, that! OK.” Yeah, it would be recognizable as a past event, but I think that’s probably as far as I can go.

Martin already ruled out the possibility of a show about Robert’s Rebellion—and such a show would have broken the “no characters from Game of Thrones” rule many times over— but that still leaves us plenty of options to chose from. Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros? The Children of the Forest and the First Men? The possibilities are almost endless, and all very exciting.
