SPOILER ALERT: “Game of Thrones” had a fiery finale.
USA TODAY

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers sat down with Kevin Clark of The Ringer and offered a series of personal takes on “Game of Thrones,” the HBO smash hit that wrapped up its final season earlier this year.

Rodgers, a longtime fan of the show, was cast as an extra during one of the climactic final sequences in the series.

The show also ended a bit controversially, with many fans frustrated by some of the narrative choices in the final season. Rodgers shares some of those opinions.

“I think there was such a buildup that some of the stuff wasn’t as believable or maybe as Thrones-y as it has been in previous seasons, such as the big battle with the White Walkers (in Episode 3),” Rodgers said in the interview. “I feel like that should have been a multi-episode one, possibly. Or, more people should have died. Because they had so many characters left to resolve so they had to slam everything quick, quick, quick, because episodes were not two hours like we originally thought they were going to be.”

Rodgers, who still considers himself a huge fan of the show despite the final-season stumbles, traveled to Belfast, Ireland, to film a scene for the penultimate episode, “The Bells,” and said the experience was “spectacular.”

“The cool thing about location shoots is how much it impacts a community. The energy around the set was pretty awesome.” he said.

Rodgers also went on to offer some thoughts on Quentin Tarantino movies, including the most recent release, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” as well as a handful of other TV shows.
