Every episode of Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon ramps up the tension and intensity, with the Targaryen family steadily straining apart. The Greens are gearing up to take control of King’s Landing, while Rhaenyra is holed up at Dragonstone currently drowned in grief after the deaths of Lucerys, Visenya, and her father, King Viserys. Amidst the ensuing drama, Alicent’s eldest son Aegon II is stuck like a square peg in a round hole, and forced to sit on the Iron Throne. Actor Tom Glynn-Carney says his character will have a bigger role to play in the second season of House of The Dragon.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, Glynn-Carney said, “In one of the first meetings I had with [showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal], we spoke about Aegon and his unpredictability. I was saying that I really wanted to have him teeing on the edge the entire time. The coin could flip onto any side, and we should never know which way it’s gonna go. People will make their own decisions, but I just want to keep that kind of center of gravity.”

He also talked about the constant moral battle that ensues within his mind, “I think it’s his vulnerability that breeds the darkness. It’s the way he copes, it’s his security, it’s his safety blanket, it’s an addictive coping mechanism for him to shut things out and to be cold. I wanna push that further, and I want to see where we can take him.”
