  1. Aeris II Targaryen (Daenerys father) was son of Jaehaerys II Targaryen son of Egg (Aegon V) Targaryen. So the mad king Aeris wasn't the son of Maester Aemon's brother (Egg) but the son of his son 😉

  2. Why hasn't the director been shouting at Kit "Close your $@?#%€ mouth!!! You look like a nincompoop!!!" Kit spent the entire first season with his mouth open, even when he wasn't speaking. Annoying!

  3. Favorite scene. "And the children!!" Incredible acting on both sides. Jons face says it all. Such a powerful scene. His great great uncle too!! Us Knowing that now makes it even more powerful. What a show🙏🙏

  4. It's funny, it's like maester Aemons counsel is meant more for Jon's distant future rather than his current situation. Maybe when Dany gets pregnant next season, Jon will be forced to make a choice.

  5. Aerys the mad king was the grandson of his brother. Aegon the unlikely was the brother of Aemon, Aegon's son was Jaeherys II and his son was Aerys the mad king. Appologies if someone has already mentioned that.

  6. This is a very interesting conversation, particularly regarding Eddard Stark. He chose honour by marring Catelyn (previously betrothed to his older brother Brandon) over his love for Ashara Dayne of Starfall so the North, Vale, and Stormlands could align with house Tully during Robert's Rebellion. Ashara was then said to have jumped from a cliff in anguish, maybe as a result of Eddard's choice, or by the news of her brother Arthur's (Dayne) death (there appears more to this story however). Conversely, Rob Stark chose love over duty and sacrifice, then the Freys who should have aligned with him, aligned with his enemy and killed him. Aemon also mentions "what is duty against the feel of a new born son in your arms", ironically the exact same correlation of Eddard holding Jon "Targarian" Snow. Then at the end of it, Eddard sacrifices his name and honour in order to try save his daughters, forever being ridiculed as a traitor and scum-bag. Eddard Stark truly is one of my favorite characters. He by-far made some of the hardest choices of all the characters in Martin's world of ice and fire.

  7. So um. They removed one generation? Instead of Aegon V (egg) being Aerys II's grandson, he became his dad instead. So does that mean Robert B. having a Targaryen grandmother is also non show canon?

  8. Ned did whatever was right, no matter what. And he chose the love of her family, her sister, and sheltered her son. With it, he put a badge of shame on himself by proclaiming he dishonored her vow to her wife.
So, choosing honor and duty, is it always the right choice?

  9. I imagine Peter Vaughan's performance in this scene was helped substantially by the fact that he was 87 years old at the time and probably knew a few things himself about what it means to live with a choice (or two) for all your days.
