Seeing as Diane Morgan sorted out Brexit and all of British history as Philomena Cunk already, it’s about time she got her own sitcom!

The After Life actress will write, direct and star in the BBC’s six-part Mandy, about a dreamer whose goal of breeding Doberman Pinschers faces some, err, challenges.

Mandy goes for all sorts of jobs to make her dream a reality, while also trying to whip her health into shape and using Airbnb to make some cash with her tiny back bedroom.

The 15-minute episodes are based on a comedy short that originally premiered last summer, and will now feature an expanded cast with some of TV’s most well-known faces.

Among those Mandy will cross paths on her road to dog-breeding glory will be Game of Thrones and Doctor Who star David Bradley, EastEnders‘ Natalie Cassidy, Black Mirror star Maxine Peake and I’m a Celebrity‘s Iain Lee.

Mandy will premiere on BBC Two and iPlayer in August. Netflix has also announced that Ricky Gervais has started writing the third and final series of After Life, following its smash success earlier this year.

“Thank you, you played a blinder,” Gervais announced to his followers on Twitter. “You watched it, more of you, and faster, than you watched season 1. And that’s only after one week. And they are the best company in the world, Netflix… They’re f**king amazing.”
