Game of Thrones was an intense bit of television, and while the fans understand this, we tend to forget that it was way more intense for the cast and crew of the show. Many of the cast members have talked about what it was like to wrap the project after almost a decade of work, and the latest one to join this list is Alfie Allen, who played the role of Theon Greyjoy on the show, who recently discussed life after the show. Read on!

Alfie recently gave an interview with The Thrillist, Alfie discussed how life has been since he wrapped up filming on Thrones. First off he spoke about how his character’s journey affected him:

“At first it was great, it was brilliant. And then my character started to get tortured. So it got a little little bit dark.”

how Game of Thrones was so big that there wasn’t much of room to improvise:

“No disrespect to HBO or any of the directors I worked with — after a while because it’s such a juggernaut of a show, you owe more to the words that they write than the kind of character that you think that you’ve created yourself.

You kind of have play this game of respecting what they’re doing, but also respecting what you need to bring to it as well.”

Alfie Allen Game of Thrones end interview

Speaking of his Emmy nomination, he said:

“Way back when we started doing Thrones, I’m not going to try and pretend I’m totally naive to the Emmys, but I thought about it. I was like, wow, maybe one day I’ll be up there but it disappeared. That dream disappeared a long time ago.”

He continued to talk about how he heard the news of his nomination from his agent when he was at a gift shop:

“I just sat down on the pavement. I went inside and talked to the lady who had just been serving me and we just had a glass of champagne together. It was great.”

He then talked about life after Thrones:

“I’m sad that I don’t get to spend as much time with all the people.

That is something that I really, really, really am going to miss. But we all keep in contact, we’ve got a WhatsApp group going. We all kind of went through those muddy fields and gas heated lamps just huddling around them. We’ll always share those experience together, but in terms of missing doing Thrones, I think I’m happy that it’s over.”
