The world of Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire is vast, so vast that even with seven seasons of television and five books, George R.R. Martin hasnât explored even close to all of it. He has dropped tantalizing clues, though. His latest book, Fire & Blood, explores the history of the Targaryen dynasty, but along the we get plentiful hints about parts of the world unseen by anyone on HBO.
For example, is there land to the west of Westeros? Arya Stark once brought up that subject when talking to Lady Crane, and itâs the topic of the latest video from Game of Thrones theory master Alt Shift X. Sit back and go exploring:
Elissa Farman sounds like a fascinating character. No wonder HBO wants to make Game of Thrones prequel series; thereâs such a wealth of material on the margins of Martinâs stories theyâd be foolish not to.
The note about the possible origins of Daenerysâ dragon eggs is interesting. Indeed, Martin did say that the eggs Elissa stole are not necessarily meant to be the same ones that hatch into Daenerysâ dragons more than a century later, but the language used is so close itâs hard for an informed reader to come to any other conclusion. At minimum, the guy is messing with us.
Anyway, thanks to Alt Shift X for another extremely interesting video. The guyâs full of them.
