Watch Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie & Domhnall Gleeson share their favorite Supreme Leader Snoke and Captain Phasma theories.

As everyone on the planet knows, director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now in theaters worldwide. Unlike most movies where a lot of people know all the twists and turns before opening day, Disney and Lucasfilm have done an amazing job keeping the ambitious plot of The Last Jedi under wraps. It’s actually a small miracle they did were able to keep everything a secret, considering how often and quickly plot details can leak and proliferate on the Internet.

When I attended the LA Press Day for the film, secrecy was a foregone conclusion. Knowing the cast was extremely guarded with what they would say about their characters and the film, I tried my best to ask fun questions that I knew they could answer. As you’ll see during my interview with Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, and Domhnall Gleeson, they talked about their favorite Snoke theories, Gleeson shares the name he uses on Star Wars message boards, and Christie shares her favorite theory on who Captain Phasma is underneath the armor.

Check out what they had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about. Star Wars: The Last Jedi also stars Mark Hamill,Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels, and Benicio Del Toro.

  1. These press tours are such a joke, especially on a film like Star Wars where the cast literally can't say anything about the film. What a waste of time for everyone involved. Such inane conversation.

Is daytime TV like this, only x1000 worse?

  2. Oh, look. 3 incredibly talented actors playing 3 utterly wasted character. Way to go Rian! I didn’t think it would be possible but you fucked over Andy Serkis! I hope J.J. retcons so much of The Last Jedi.

  3. I'm 100% sure Phasma had less screen time in this film, I had actually forgotten about her entirely by the time she came in. I really hope she survives that fall with some kind of helmet stuck in face injury and makes a cyborg-ish come back to haunt Finn.

I have a storyline for Phasma which I personally think would have served the story really well – Finn is her secret weapon, he was never good, working for her the entire time. Kylo goes over to the light and Finn is revealed to be the big bad and rejoins the First Order taking some kind of command, then taking it a step further, somehow manipulates the force with First Order tech. (Since they can track lightspeed trails now, I figured what the hell.)

  4. I feel like phases had a lot of stuff cut out. Rian said that he had to sacrifice some really amazing stuff so that the film flowed better. I can’t wait to see all of the deleted scenes

  5. Basically the answer Gwendoline was looking for (but couldn't give) in answer to the question about Phasma is, "no there isn't more screen time, this character existed to look cool in trailers and sell a bunch of toys at Christmas". Kind of sad in a way maybe, but every SW needs at least one of those.

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a bait-and-switch on us and revealed Phasma survived. It seemed like her armor so strong that it could survive so much like fire. She also hardly flinched when Rose shot her.

  7. Two of them were killed off prematurely and the other is a Nazi officer that was turned into comic relief. My favourite Snoke theory is that he's a complete nobody and irrelevant to the plot. Also glad to see Christie forced to joke about her screen time and instant death.

  8. lol, I laughed at these 3 all for different reasons. Snoked got wrecked(which I was fine with). They did Phasma wrong(But I really didn't care that much) and Hux was just a funny idiot.

  9. Let's not beat around the bush here. I love Gwendoline Christie (which is actually part of the problem), and I love listening to her, but having her featured so heavily on the press tour was not good. For that matter, her role in the film should have just been a surprise. Between showing off her fight in the trailers and Christie participating in all the interviews, it falsely alluded, once again, to her having a greater role in the film.

Also, why did Andy Serkis claim that Snoke was more powerful than Vader and the Emperor in a past interview? What kind of weird tease was that? Was he joking and/or making fun of the character?

  10. I was hoping Phasma would get more to do. Why make a big deal about her being a woman and being empowering if they make her the butt of a joke and kill her off for no reason? Wasted potential.
