  1. Dawn makes sense to have been from a fallen star. Meteor iron is the only significant source of pure iron in the world. Normal iron ore is contaminated with impurities that make the metal weak. To remove them you need advanced smelting technology which I think the people of westoros don't have. I think that the Valyrians had that technology though which is why Valyrian steel is so much better.

  2. For Longclaw, you describe it as a sword "between a 1 handed and 2 handed sword"
    This type of sword is known as a Bastard Sword. It is actually pretty ironic considering who ended up wielding it!
