Following his stint in rehab last year Ben Affleck has been kicking his acting career back into overdrive.
And the Academy Award winner is now teaming up with a plethora of acting talent as he gets back on board one of Netflix’s next big budget Originals projects.
The 45-year-old Batman actor will star alongside Game Of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal and Sons Of Anarchy leading man Charlie Hunnam in the film which was previously titled Triple Frontier, reports Deadline.
The Argo director had left the project last summer for personal reasons as he dealt with sobriety issues.
That was only the latest in a seemingly-endless string of setbacks for the drama, which tells the tale of five friends who reunite to take down a South American drug lord – tellingly it’s been in pre-production stages for several years.
However, the feature film is now said to be going full-steam ahead, and also has Star Wars’ Oscar Isaac Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona on board too.
A Most Violent Year’s J.C. Chandor will direct the film, and the cast and crew will begin shooting in Hawaii later this month.
Affleck was originally set to star with his brother, Casey, and Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali, but they both dropped out after the scheduling setbacks.
Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy had been set to star in the film before that, but they also left the project due to scheduling conflicts.
And before Chandor came on board to direct, the movie had seen another major reshuffle. Katherine Bigelow was originally attached to direct, with the likes of Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Johnny Depp circled to star, but it failed to materialize.
Netflix have recently upped their Hollywood A-list offerings, releasing the third Cloverfield title in close proximity to both Jared Leto’s The Outsider and Natalie Portamn’s Annihilation (which also starred Isaac in a supporting role).
