  1. This film is absolutely OUSTANDING!!! Everyone old enough should go see this film.

Saw it on IMAX, and worth every single penny. This is a must have for my Blu-Ray collection this Christmas.

  2. I get it that some people loved the original, but I didn't, Infact I don't understand why it even is hit. The sequel put me to sleep several times because it was so slow, the loud soundtrack kept waking me up but like the original, didn't feel anything for it and felt it was a waste of time for me, I could have slept for free at home. Sorry to all the fans who love this franchise but that is my honest opinion.

  3. Bit of Kafka, bit of Pinocchio, bit of Bergman’s Persona, and a sprinkling of religious imagery. There’s a lot to unpack from Blade Runner 2049 and I’ll probably need to see it again before I try. One thing that is clear right now, I’d of liked La La Land a lot more if Ryan Gosling had been repeatedly punched in the face by an elderly man (perhaps to music?).

  4. I agree that Ana de Armas was doing great, but I thought Sylvia Hoeks was even more intense and captivating, even though she had less screen time. I wish we could've seen more of her. I wasn't a great fan of Gosling. He didn't bring much expression to the part, but perhaps he wasn't supposed to.

  5. Phenomenal movie. This is a better argument for IMAX than Dunkirk was, took up the entire screen, not just a quick stretch job like some imax released films. 2049 was the most immersive experience in IMAX, the music shook the seat. The entire experience gave me goosebumps and heart palpatations.

  6. This movie was an absolute GEM 💎 it had everything stacked against it to fail and be nowhere near as great as the original but Denis Villenueve proves everybody wrong by making it better than the original (in my opinion). The performances were great, the visuals were breathtaking and realistic. Yes Roger Deakins should absolutely get the cinematography Oscar or else the academy is dumb! Best Movie Of 2017 hands down great review Mariana!

  7. Finally got to see it today, and man, its just gorgeous in every way.

Its so refreshing to see big movies (on the budget) but with a small and human scale to it, like this one and Logan. I miss this so much on the movies these days, everything is just so over the top its bores me.

Cant wait for your spoiler discussion Marianna. My brain is going balls to the wall thinking since I saw the movie, and I want to cross check If my theories are correct. 😀

  8. I saw the first Blade Runner twice and it was a little confusing. The second viewing I understood more, but it still didn't click. It is a very interesting and great film I know. I will watch it a third time and then see 2049, because I am now more pumped to see and pay careful attention to this than ever before. Thanks. Stay cool.

  9. I'm so sad that I didn't like it. It just felt too unnecessarily long, grandiloquent and with very little heart, while the original was concise, moving and simple yet deep. And the score… wow, don't get me started. It was derivative and not memorable at all.

  10. My biggest problem with the original, isn't the fact that it's slow paced, but the fact, that the plot is soooo boring.
It's supposed to be a detective story, set in the future, but there's no actual mystery for our (anti)hero detective to solve. We know right from the beginning, why the 4 runaway Replicants came to Earth and what they want.Besides from the whole sequence where Deckard is invistigating the picture with his computer(the often parodied ''enhance''-scene,which goes on forever),he actually does little detective work in the movie and just stumbles on the Replicants.
In the sequel however, Ryan Gosling does some actual investigating and there's a big mystery, that is revealed during the movie.
Kudos to the writer and Denis Villeneuve for actually improving on the storytelling and I can't wait, what he will do with ''Dune''.
P.S. I was pleasently surprised with Dave Dautista's performance, not only is he good as the muscle, like in James Bond or in comedic roles, like Drax in ''GotG'' but he can pull of dramatic roles also, respect.

  11. "Philosophical neo noir…" Sexiest string of words I've heard all day. Shit. Now I REALLY have an urge for my next novel to be a philosophical neo noir. Good thing the bar isn't set very high … said no-one ever O.o 😀

  12. Saw it earlier today. Loved it to bits. Blade Runner would be worth seeing for no other reason but to see famous Palestinian actress Hiam Abbass give a speech about a race of people desiring freedom and self determination. Brought chills to my spine. So brilliant.
