Blue Story creator Rapman is definitely not letting the coronavirus lockdown stop his creativity, with the filmmaker currently writing a sci-fi about the pandemic.
Asked how he was spending lockdown, he revealed to Metro.co.uk ahead of the Blue Story DVD release: ‘I’m actually writing, you know.
‘I’m writing a story based on Covid-19, I’m writing, whether it’s going to be a film or a three-part TV show, we’ll see how it goes.’
Rapman – real name Andrew Onwubolu – added: ‘I’m doing a story, it’s really interesting. It’s really deep. This disease has affected home a lot. So I’m writing that at the moment, that’s what I’m doing on a daily [basis].
‘I’ve still got a lot of pre-production phone calls and telephone meetings about the movie that I’m doing over in America, so between those two it’s taking up all my time.
‘I’ve spent a lot of time with my family, which is good because I was about to be away from my family for a long period.
‘I came off my socials and everything, everyone’s an expert right now, that’s not really for me…I say try to be better. If you are healthy in this time, you can use this time to really further yourself, whatever your job.’
He went on to say: ‘So I suggest everyone buckle down and just become a better version of yourself.’
The filmmaker explained: ‘I’m writing my story in a world I’ve never written about, it gets a bit sci-fi and I’ve never done that before. So it’s challenging. I’ve always admired the people who wrote Game Of Thrones, and Harry Potter, and Lord Of The Rings. I’m trying to create a similar world right now.
‘I’m trying to become a better writer for myself. I’m still working and I’m still with my family. I just hope we all make it safely. I think everyone should be the same, try to spend time with family and better yourself.’
Pointing out that routine is key, he revealed: ‘I’m hoping by the time this is over, I’ve got another movie written or another TV show or something.’
The star, best known for his viral YouTube series Shiro’s Story and movie Blue Story, has had to cancel his plans to fly to America to work on his next movie due to the pandemic.
However, he’s quick to point out that he’s just thankful he and his family are healthy.
‘People have lost their lives, and they’re losing health over this, so I’m not going to complain,’ he said.
‘There’s people that have lost loved ones. I’m just happy to be healthy and alive.’
Blue Story is available to Download & Keep from the 13th April and on DVD from the 20th April.
