Welcome to A Song of Dan and Josh, the show where two people walk through each and every chapter of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. One has read Martin’s book multiple times, one has only ever seen the show. See if you can tell which is which.

This week, we’re talking about Bran II from A Clash of Kings, a talky chapter that gets into Bran’s life as a lord:

Have you guessed who’s who yet?

We talk a lot about what Bran being the Stark in Winterfell, and therefore the deciding power in the North, says about the system of government under which Westeros operates. Bran is a kid, but here he is being part of discussions about how to protect the Hornwood lands and making feuding houses work together to build ships. Bran wants to be a knight, but here he is forced to act a lord. Is that fair, and how is he doing?

Also, f**k Little Walder. We’re probably all better off that he didn’t make it into the show.

Next week we return to King’s Landing and see what new schemes Tyrion Lannister is hatching in the lead-up to Stannis Baratheon’s attack on the city. Watch us live this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. on our Facebook page!
