Let’s talk about Bran the Builder: Legendary Founder of House Stark.

(donations will definitely not be used to hire a sellsword army to get Daenerys THE HELL TO WESTEROS ALREADY! What are you doing, girl? Oh right….Dothraki…)

I am so sorry if you have the “Bob the Builder” theme song now stuck in your head. Now you know the agony I’ve been experiencing for the past week. “Bran the Builder..can he build it…Bran the Builder…yes he can!” Ugh. Why? I’d rather have “Hungry like the Wolf” stuck in my head again.

  1. It doesn’t really make sense to me that this one Brandon lived long enough to do all these things. Like how could he help in the contruction of Storms End (age of heroes) survive the Long Night (which lasted a generation, it is said), build a massive wall of ice afterwards, build winterfell (one of the better castles in Westeros) AND build the hightower of Oldtown? He’d have to be a thousand years old

  2. Thank you so much for making these videos, I absolutely love listening to them while I work and waiting for season 8. I wish you all the best in everything you do, you deserve all the best things💚👊💚

  3. I build a great ice wall on the Norther border, and he mad the children of the forest pay for the wall! Not that I agreed with all of his policies. I was rooting for Manderly as first king of the north, but Brandon called him lying Manderly.

  4. Bran the Builder reminds me a lot of King Arthur; a mythical or semi-mythical king of the 'first men' of his land that is probably actually a composite of several closely related historical figures. It would make sense for the Starks to be good architects in their early years after all, their lands would be the hardest to hold and the easiest to occupy guerrilla style so getting into a dynastic habit of really knowing your timber and stones is only prudent. The first Bran might well have been the founder of house Stark and build both Storm's End and The Wall. On the back of that and their own castles and towers the Starks then get a reputation as fortification experts, so later on shaky foreign record keeping remembers several men only as the 'great Builder of house Stark' down generations, conflating them all into one mythical King.

That's my snap theory at least, based partly on real world myth trends and GRRM's penchant for mirroring British history in the series.

  5. Bran Stark is Bran the builder. Bran went back in time and built the wall, he did all the things Bran the builder did. Bran is possibly the most important person in GOT.

  6. Bran the Builder is the damn bran for this days in GOT he come back and help all the kings of the north to prepare for the invasion of the white walkers since he probably try to come back and talk with the childrens to not create the white walkers but probably this dont work since if the white walkers dont exist the history will change a lot.

  7. While we're talking of tin foil hats, since I see you did this video on my birthday, I'll throw one in.  Bran the Builder isn't the one who built the Wall, in fact it wasn't even that side which built it.  The Others built it, the Night's King and the White Walkers to keep the Andals out of their lands where they'd need to sleep for those thousands of years.  Since the Andals were defeated by it, they claimed it was one of their greats who built it to avoid the shame of losing.

  8. This makes me think that perhaps Bran in the GoT series will end up building something that staves off the next long night and resumes the balance required for both the living and the white walkers to live….until….history repeats itself.

  9. george rr martin has said characters like bran the builder lann the clever garth greenhand were all real people in westeros at one point an time and that some of them would have lived during the same time period
