KNOW & UNDERSTAND YOUR FUCKING SOURCE MATERIAL.
Ok i love movies adapted from video games and nothing pisses me off more than studios trying to "Hollywoodise" video game franchises that have rich story in-depth plots and lore of their own so when studios want to adapt these for the big screen it pisses me off that they get people that try and put their own stamp on something that doesn't need much work to be successful and then they cast it wrong, when studios do this we get shit like Street Figther & Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, King of Fighters, Far Cry and yes i'm gonna say it Prince of Persia: Sands of Time ,(i'm probably gonna cop hate for it but apart from it being shot well and being cast for appeal it was a shit movie yes it made $336m does that make it a good? no it just means 67+ million people bought into the hype).
Use Duncan Jones as an example of what you should do. what he did with the Warcraft Movie was amazing he knew the source material and the audience that would be lining up to buy tickets and a script that fit in with what people know and it was brilliantly cast. whether or not u liked the movie or not and yes Blizzard Entertainment did have alot of oversight but having people behind and in front of the camera that know what they're audience is and how to turn the stories from player controlled to a cinematic experience than not only fans of the game franchise enjoy but people who don't play the games can be like "Ok i see why you like this game" another Honorable mention is the Resident Evil series almost $1.3bn at the box office over six movies and the franchise is still going with talks of a TV spin off to possibly fill the void left after TWD ends.
in closing KNOW & UNDERSTAND YOUR FUCKING SOURCE MATERIAL insert epic plate to wall collision

  2. Have to disagree with Thad on Twin Peaks. The Twin Peaks finale was fucking great! That final shot was incredible. One of the most chilling and haunting final scenes ever. I thought it was perfect. Most of the theories about it are pretty great as well.
