We’ve been issued a stark warning from Gwendoline Christie, AKA Brienne of Tarth – the finale of Game Of Thrones is going to really affect you.
According to the 40-year-old actress who stars as the brave, sword-wielding knight in the HBO fantasy drama series, the show’s eighth and final season will see you seeking ‘professional help’ at the end of it.
Forget winter: therapy is coming.
She said: ‘You’re going to need therapy. I think just the show ending is going to send all of the world into professional help.’
We’re not sure if that’s for withdrawal symptoms, or because of the content of the final episode.
The actress also believed the show’s finale will be ‘incredibly emotional’, especially for the cast, as she says the programme has been a ‘truly incredible thing’ to be involved with. Much like it’s been a truly incredible thing for us to watch.
She added E! News: ‘I think it’s going to make me incredibly emotional. We’re all emotional about the fact that this is the end, and this is the end of something incredibly significant for all of us, and it’s been a truly incredible thing to be a part of.’
She’s not the only one to think the whole thing has been emotional, as many other cast members, while staying tight-lipped on the content, have discussed how the show left them feeling.
‘I burst into tears,’ Kit Harington told BBC Breakfast. ‘You know, it’s a weird thing. I’m not sad about it ending. I just feel very joyous about it ending and having completed it.
‘But it doesn’t make it any less emotional.’
The 31-year-old Jon Snow actor previously discussed going into the table read without reading the scripts beforehand.
‘I walked in saying, “Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know”,’ he said. ‘What’s the point of reading it to myself in my own head when I can listen to people do it and find out with my friends?’
Speaking of crying – not just once, but twice – the actor added: ‘The second time was the very end. Every season, you read at the end of the last script “End of Season 1” or “End of Season 2”. This read “End of Game of Thrones”. And you realise, OK, it’s really happening.’
Game Of Thrones Season 8 returns April, 2019.
