  1. I actually really liked the elves in this…and that felt really weird to say once I fully typed it out. I had to look up who the main evil elf was and ended up astonished that it was the chick from crappy ass "Prometheus." Ward being a bright was both totally predictable and completely sucked major bawls.

  2. Super harsh review.. Movie doesn't claim to be all high and mighty.. A fantasy film that does it's best to bring fantasy into the modern world.. How long would the movie need to be of you were to retcon how fantasy impacted 2000 years of modern history!?!! It's fun, it's explosiony, it's got will smith and orc buddy in it.. Formulaic.. Perhaps but a 3/10.. No way solid 7/8!!

  3. Just watched it last night with my husband. We both agreed it could’ve been executed So much better and been a really good movie. There were so many parts I couldn’t take seriously. I think they also tried too hard with the humor that it didn’t feel natural either. A few har hars, but nothing seriously good. If anything, pretty disappointing considering I love the fantasy genre and it had so much potential.

  4. I liked the movie a lot but I have to agree with you, the supporting actors were awful. It was like watching one of those soap operas that come on TV when you don't have cable. The storyline has HUGE potential but it was just completely wasted.

  5. You eight er love or hate the movie, as a shadowrun fan I got to say it is average and the very least not a bad movie.

This is a step toward the right direction. The movie has so much potential. It had its moment and some gems that shined thro the shitty mess.

All in all I appreciate what the movie tired to achieve and what the director aimed for with this innovative pitch that yet so far be applied to the movie format.

But in the end the flaws were so cringy, not to mention the lost potential that is so saddening to see it flushed away. if I were Nerd soup I would rate this 5.5&/10 (but hey that just me)

  6. I liked the movie it was pretty entertaining and I feel like many reviewers don't like it because the movie didn't take any of the modern issues seriously but the reviewers thought they should've. It was easy for me to just slide in and have fun because it's never work for me to watch a movie I'm certain that everyday people will enjoy this film even though it's not revolutionary or as Jeremy jahns used to put it a tour de force

  7. Was it great, no. I did enjoy it a lot but wanted more on the lore behind everything/everyone. Great soundtrack, some laughs. I liked Jacoby way more than Ward. I've watched it 2 and a half times now and still find things I missed (not plot related more visuals). I feel if it was a series as opposed to a film it may have served it better. There are few fantasy world's that can really be explored in a movie (a single movie at least). But that's my opinion.

  8. How come on every single post or article or video I come across mentioning Bright, an entire fucking squadron of fans are already in the comments saying they loved it? Not even giving reasons, just two-three lines about how they really enjoyed it, critics take it too seriously/don't know what they're doing (it's not like it's their job or anything), and how they'd give it 8/10 but wished that it was a TV series instead.

The movie fucking sucked, and the negative reviews have competently chartered most of what was wrong with it. From the piss-poor plot to the bad acting, the unbelievable dialogue, the mishandling of racial themes, the general shittiness of the directorial work, the awful post production, the bad editing, the student-film-tier pacing, and that awfully bland gun fight they recycled six times. This half-assed turd of a movie got negative reviews because so much of it was objectively bad. You can't blame the world for not liking a christmas album where Bublé sings off key throughout, even if he sings your favorite songs.

And honestly, every single person who believes that critics are in some sort of conspiracy against Netflix, or simply completely out of touch with what constitutes quality film making: get the fuck over yourself. You wouldn't tell a welder you could better than them, so don't just assume that every single fucking critic on the planet is a corrupt lizard person just because their professional and infinitely better trained opinion on a movie isn't the same as yours or your snot eating friends'. How arrogant one must be to think that they know more than every single expert, and how generally useless one must be to never exercise critical thought on the things they like.

  9. So many of us are in agreement….you're wrong, taking yourself and the movie too seriously. Chill dude. Totally going to rewatch. 5 stars. Every time you said "Of course" – Uhh, YASSSS. Only problem is that it's a movie and not a series. Yes, give me a series

  10. I wouldnt have been so harsh but i do like the thought of magic or whatever in present day but alot of the acting was forced, somethings in the story were bleh, and will smith was doing will smith things

  11. Fairy lives don’t matter is such a cringe line. I notice the entertainment industry constantly tries to have a voice in serious social issues and makes it seem like they are completely detached from the real world on account of how corny and terribly they make their statements

  12. Yeah the elf that helped them out was super annoying, that trope of sexy grown woman acting like innocent child bleeeugh, fifth element, splash etc etc. At least one of them didn't fall in love with her
