Unlike Daenerys Targaryen we don’t have our very own dragons to get across the Seven Kingdoms – but thanks to British Airways, flying to the North of Westeros just got that little bit easier.

In fact, Game of Thrones fans will be delighted to hear that the airline is offering a new direct flight Beyond the Wall – or, more accurately, Reykjavik in Iceland.

But since Iceland provided many-a-hotspot for Game of Thrones filming locations , we’ll count it as close enough.

British Airways has just launched two new flights a week to capital Reykjavik, the first of three new routes from London City Airport as part of the airline’s expansion of its European network.

Also launching will be three flights a day to Paris Orly Airport in France, as well as six flights a week to Prague in the Czech Republic.

All of the flights will take place on modern Embraer jets, each offering choices of Club Europe and Eurotraveller cabins, not to mention two-abreast seating so everyone can have a window or aisle seat.

It’s an exciting coup for the brand, who will now have 32 flights available from London City – and with the airport set to undergo a £400million redevelopment , there’s sure to be plenty of room for further expansion.

It’s also the first time that Reykjavik will have a direct air link with London, which will no doubt be a hit with Game of Thrones fans hoping to go exploring and seek out the locations for some of the hit TV show’s iconic scenes.

In fact ever since it first featured in GoT, Iceland has enjoyed a surge of tourism, with over a million of visitors now heading to the North Atlantic island every year.

“This is the first time there has been a direct air link between London City and Reykjavik and as one of the fastest growing tourist hotspots it’s a destination our customers really want to travel to,” said Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager, customer and commercial, at London City.

“Even if they are not devout fans of Game of Thrones, Iceland has so much to offer visitors from diverse landscapes to the Northern lights.

“We are also delighted to launch Prague and Orly for the first time, offering a direct link to two important European capital cities for both business and leisure customers.”
