Littlefinger had plans for taking over all of Westeros, but it ends up his advice applies equally well to the football field.

Football season is around the corner (for better or worse), and newly minted New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton knows how he’s going to triumph: by channeling Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish from Game of Thrones.

Specially, Newton is into an…inspiration speech Littlefinger gave to Sansa Stark in season 7. Check out his video below:

That’s Newton training with new Patriots teammate N’Keal Harry and Cleveland Browns star wide out Odell Beckham Jr, taking notes from the master of manipulation. “Don’t fight in the North or the South,” Littlefinger says over the highlight footage. “Fight every battle everywhere, always, in your mind. Everyone is your enemy, everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Live that way and nothing will surprise you. Everything that happens will be something that you’ve seen before.”

As long as Newton and company don’t have to go up against the Winterfell Three-Eyed Ravens, this is a winning strategy.

Newton isn’t the only guy in the NFL who loves Game of Thrones. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers even had a cameo as a rando soldier in “The Bells,” the second-to-last episode:

If these two started a Game of Thrones podcast people would probably listen, just saying.
