Being one of the largest martial arts channels on youtube, I often receive messages asking “how can I train MMA by myself, if I don’t have access to a gym?” This video gives specific exercises and examples of ways to learn martial arts even if you don’t belong to a gym.

I havent taken martial arts in 7 years but I have learned alot by watching youtube videos.
Shane, u r such an inspiration to Ur fans around the world. Listen, do u have any tips on protecting Ur brain while training for boxing/MMA? I figure that wearing headgear while sparring is important. Anything else? I love training in MMA gyms but having seen some videos of brain damaged fighters has got me scared (more so than having Ur nose or ribcage broken). I think it ll be great if u could do a video on things ppl could do to prevent brain damage while training for MMA. Thanks. And keep up the good work.
You don't always need to be in a gym but u can get trianed by anyone good enuff, like thugs who got dem Hans u feel me
I got in a small boxing match (not in a gym) and I did pretty good especially with my defense when I realised this guy can't do shit so I shudnt hit him too much, he only landed 20% in 15 mins no stop… I've been playing games n watching shit since I was young and I'm not the best but it does help😉
Hey Shane! Could you do a single video or series on an MMA workout split? Similar to your video where you went through your chest workout, but for everything. Obviously the training will vary depending on an upcoming fight and natural ability, but imagine a complete beginner who has very little experience in either striking or grappling, and also wants to improve muscular strength/endurance as well as cardio.
Probably not, but you can learn how to fight and how to kill, much simpler anyway
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SHANE YOU ARE THE BEST
lol been doing this exact thing like 4 months already
Id say yes u can there are 1 billion ways to learn things so yes u can
Videos improve ur knowledge , training improves you
this is pretty ironic😂
You need training and sparring. What's crazy is, you can train without a trainer to be the best
I wanna learn to fight so i can punk bullies
Can I become a UFC fighter by start training from the age of 23?
Shane some kid keeps slapping me in the middle of the hallways so we fought Friday with body shots but the problem is that I've been practicing headshot combos and I'm good with body shots so he beat me. But I'm fighting him Monday as well because idk I forget stuff in a fight can you please help me man?

Without light sparring…then medium sparring….then full on heavy sparring you can never become a fighter.
Very interesting to have these tips for those of us who can't train at a gym/dojo as much as we would like : ) thanks : )
By watching videos on you tube one can know about it ,but to apply they have to work hard
How about buying some gloves, maybe even pads and getting a sparring partner to fight you? Sure you don't have a TEACHER standing there but you have another guy who gets better as you get better and he takes the stuff he's learned from the internet and tries it on you. That's not very different from an MMA gym or something, it's just you don't have an experienced man to correct you.
That's how those styles were made. I don't mean how judo evolved into BJJ or anything like that where there was a TEACHER leading. At the VERY beginning fighting styles evolved by people who wanted to fight engaging in combat with each other, they both agreed on what works and what doesn't and became better fighters from it.
So if you and a friend, brother, cousin, classmate, boyfriend, girlfriend wanna become better fighters and can't go to a gym to train, then just look up videos and use them against each other in a controlled fighting situation.
Not unless you're JBJ… so probably not. You need real world feedback.
Hey man alot of your videos really help me perfect some personal of the flaws i had and now i think im ready to actually join a gym and take more steps into the sport. Thank you so much but one issue i still have is while doing spin kicks or throwing heavy combos I tend to lose some balance in my lead foot and keep finding myself over extended into their striking range which we all know isnt always good lol. Any tips would be appreciated brother keep it up.
Philly fighters all day. Respect
When you're talking about meeting up with people to train in might be worth making a video on how to make sure that you and your training partners are safe during training and what to prepare in case someone is injured. If I felt more comfortable in knowing how to look out for and prevent injuries I'd happily train more with friends in a park when I can't make it to a proper gym.
Forreal you'll definitely have an advantage over anyone not researching/training. I remember when i was like 16 i tried boxing with my friend that was already good and ended up windmilling looking very amateur haha, but after that i started watching vids got a heavy bag and practiced then eventually beat him and all my friends within a month or two which isn't really an accomplishment but it just goes to show that it really does help even if your not training or in a gym. Now i'm 19 got a year of jiujitsu under my belt and 2 years of boxing which is on going hopefully get a amateur fight this year in boxing cheers.
