Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, and the Season 2 of the show is almost here. The relationship between Alicent Hightower and Ser Criston Cole, knight of the Kingsguard, has been an interesting and complex one in the series, and we know we’re likely seeing a bedroom scene between the two in Season 2. However, there appears to be another one that has been cut from the show. In a recent interview with Elle, Olivia Cooke discussed this deleted scene, and more.

Olivia Cooke on Alicent’s bedroom scenes

Olivia Cooke noted that she was expecting more intimate scenes thanks to the reputation Game of Thrones has had. Talking about the intimate scene we’ll get to see this season featuring Alicent, she said,

I thought there’d be way more, and so I’m relieved that when it has been used for me, it’s showing Alicent being pleasured, which is amazing and doesn’t feel gratuitous,” she says. “It feels like we’re telling a story.”

She then described the deleted bedroom scene, calling it carnal and even animalistic, shedding light on its intensity and raw emotion.

It was messy as fuck. It wasn’t beautiful, and that was really fun to do.” It was “carnal” and even “animalistic. I think Ryan [Condal, the showrunner] said we weren’t learning any more about the characters, which I disagree with slightly, but it’s okay. It’s his show.

She did say laughingly that maybe we’ll see the scene in the bloopers. She didn’t mention whether the scene involved Criston Cole with Alicent, but that was likely the case.

Fans are left to guess how that deleted scene might have influenced the storyline and character development. Despite its absence, Cooke’s performance continues to captivate audiences, but a peek at the depth of Alicent’s character could still be interesting. And as season 2 gets going, it will be even more interesting for viewers to see the development of the characters the showrunners have planned.
