According to the letter sent to Jon at the wall from Ramsay, Mance was killed during Theon and Jeyne Poole's escape from Winterfell.
Mance can still come back in Season 8, but with just 6 episodes left, I really doubt it.
And yes, they fkd up so bad with the Martells, they were too interesting to be killed off like that.
