Chris Pratt’s career has skyrocketed since his days as the awkward Andy on NBC’s Parks and Recreation. He’s part of a major Marvel property, he headlined the Jurassic World movies, and he got his own show on Amazon Prime Video.

So what’s his next project? When Pratt dropped by the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Horowitz asked him about rumors of director Steven Spielberg approaching him to play Indiana Jones.

These rumors began circulating back in 2015. Obviously, that is not the direction Spielberg took, considering Harrison Ford is returning to reprise the iconic role in a fifth Indiana Jones movie. But is there any truth to it? Could Chris Pratt have been Indiana Jones?

Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones? Probably not

It looks like Pratt is steering clear of the Indiana Jones franchise. Why? Harrison Ford. Pratt didn’t directly answer the question of whether Spielberg had ever approached him about the role (his body language seemed a bit stiff, if you’re asking me), but did seem to put the kibosh on rumors that he’ll be playing the part anytime soon.

“I don’t even know who Steven Spielberg is. Who? Steven Who?” Pratt asked. “No, aren’t they doing Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford? All I know is I once saw a quote from Harrison Ford–and I don’t even know if it was really him, but it was enough to scare me–that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies.’ And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?”

No one is trying to mess with the force that is Harrison Ford, alive or dead.

I know we live in a world full of reboots and revivals, but there are some things you do not mess with. One does not simply replace Harrison Ford, even if you are Chris Pratt.
