Game of Thrones will be played out on the Dozer Park field this summer as part of the Peoria Chiefs lineup of special jerseys.

The Chiefs will have seven special jerseys during the 2019 Midwest League season. Some of them will be worn for more than one game. But all of them will end up being auctioned for charities chosen by the team.

The hit HBO show, Game of Thrones, wraps up its final season in 2019, and the Chiefs will team up with the Cedar Rapids Kernels to celebrate “Westeros Night” on June 8.

Peoria will wear white and black jerseys featuring the Stark family crest, from the HBO show. Cedar Rapids will wear red and gold jerseys with the Lannister family crest.

Both sets will be auctioned after that game for a charity to be determined.

The Chiefs will play as the Peoria Distillers against Bowling Green, which will appear as the Bootleggers, in a May 4 “Battle for the Barrel” game at Dozer Park. They’ll be used for a rematch on July 12 and auctioned after that game.

The Distillers jerseys underwent a redesign for 2019 by Chiefs director of creative services Allison Rhoades.

The Chiefs will wear red, white, and blue USA/military-themed jerseys on Armed Forces Night (May 18) and Salute to the USA Night (July 3). Those jerseys feature the Statue of Liberty on them, and the auction will benefit Gold Star families.

The Chiefs traditional light blue Sunday jerseys have been modified, adding buttons down the front instead of a pullover style.

Here’s some other special jersey nights, with a hat tip to Chiefs front office staff members Patrick Walker and Steve Brown, who worked with Wilson on those designs:

Jurassic Ballpark Night: Yellow and green dinosaur-themed jerseys will be worn on June 21, with auction to benefit the Pediatric Resource Center.

Organ Donor Night: A donor-themed jersey will be worn by players on Aug. 10, with auction to benefit Gift of Hope.

The Sunday Cardinals throwbacks: Those baby-blue jerseys from the 1980s will be worn for all Sunday games, and auctioned at the end of the season for the Chiefs Community Foundations for Grants and Scholarships.

The Chiefs jersey auctions will be online, and via text message bidding through Gesture. You can access those at Chiefs.Gesture.com. You can register for an account there. Or text CHIEFS to 52182 to sign up.

Fans can track auctions all summer and make bids from their smartphone, tablet or PC and do not have to be present at Dozer Park to win an auction or pay for a jersey.

That’s all for Cleve In The Eve, who does not have a specialty jersey, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019.

Here’s your sports quote of the day:

“The difference between the old ballplayer and the new ballplayer is the jersey. The old ballplayer cared about the name on the front. The new ballplayers cares about the name on the back.”
