Shannon Dooner and Rachael Blair are pretty busy at the best of times working to make costumes for films and TV productions like Game of Thrones.
Now in the worst of time, the housemates, one a costume assistant, the other a crowd costume supervisor, are flat out in their converted garden shed making scrubs for the NHS.
And this is what the creation of scrubs looks like in when all the hard work is compressed into a time lapse video.
Caroline Hill, a costume supervisor who helped pull the team together, said: “We were all working on various TV and film projects across the UK and further afield, but due to the development of Covid 19 the productions were all put on a hiatus until the situation improves.
“Everyone went from being extremely busy to all of a sudden having very little to do and being advised to stay at home, so everyone was keen to use their skills and expertise to try and help where possible.
“We decided the best way to support the healthcare workers was by volunteering to make scrubs for the hardworking NHS NI staff, which will be distributed directly to the staff that need them most.
“It’s a wonderful team of people I work with regularly. I’ve ordered materials to distribute/ coordinate with everyone. All cutters and makers are highly skilled, very adaptable and used to meeting last minute deadlines and producing large quantities of costumes.”
The team are currently in production of the scrubs and the finished garments will be delivered to NHS staff in the City and Royal Hospitals across several departments that are most in need.
The team includes:
Caroline Hill – Costume Supervisor.
Margaret Pescott and Lizzie Agnew – Costume cutters and makers
Melanie Carmichael, Kirsty Hunt, Ellen Hawthorne, Fionnghuala Mohan – Costume makers
Rachael Annette and Marie Breen – Costume Standby and makers
Shannon Dooner – Costume Assistant
Rachael Blair – Crowd Costume Supervisor
