THE ISLAND of Doctor Moron, created and produced by Crescent Head’s Chris and Lyn Dockrill, has just received two more awards – this time from the Sanctuary Cove International Film Festival. The film won Best Musical Film and Best Family Film at the festival. “Sanctuary Cove Festival was the only festival we have screened at in Australia to date,” Chris Dockrill, the writer, director and producer of the film, said. “Our main focus has been international. To that end, we have screened in 13 international film festivals across 10 countries.” Lyn Dockrill, the composer of the music that drives this incredible rock musical, said: “The sound in the Sanctuary Cover theatre was amazing.” “One of the great things about being chosen for these international festivals is that we get to rub shoulders with some very interesting people,” Chris said. “For example, last weekend, we were chatting with Conan Stevens, the actor who played The Mountain in season one of Game of Thrones. He is really a very nice guy, although you wouldn’t think so from the horribly threatening character he plays in GoT.” “He is so tall!” added Lyn. (Conan is actually 7’1’’). Chris has just left for the Milan International Film Festival where The Island of Doctor Moron has been nominated for seven awards including: Best Director | Milan IFF 2018 Best Lead Actor | Milan IFF 2018 Best Feature Film | Milan IFF 2018 Best Music In Film | Milan IFF 2018 Best Editing of a Feature Film | Milan IFF 2018 Best Original Screenplay of a Feature Film | Milan IFF 2018, and; Best Original Score | Milan IFF 2018.
