Daisy Ridley commented on how she believes the ending of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be received compared to the divisive conclusion to Game of Thrones.

Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring the sequel trilogy to an end and mark the conclusion of the Skywalker saga that began with the first film in 1977. Of course, fans are already formulating theories on how the main Star Wars saga will conclude and some fans are keeping their fingers crossed in hopes that the final chapter will not fall below expectations as Game of Thrones did this past summer.

Fortunately, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Daisy Ridley had some reassuring words for fans during an interview with MTV News at Disney’s D23 Expo. While Daisy Ridley admitted she has not caught up on Game of Thrones, she is aware of how the series ended and stated that she believed the final chapter of the Star Wars sequel trilogy will not be as divisive:

“I think this ending will be less controversial.”

Of course, the final season of Game of Thrones received criticism for what many believed to be a dramatic drop in the quality of the writing and the controversial decision to abruptly turn Daenerys Targaryen into an antagonist in the final episodes. While Game of Thrones has come to an end, the franchise is set to continue with a prequel series. Details on the Game of Thrones prequel are still under wraps, though the series is said to be set roughly 5,000 years before the events of George R. R. Martin’s original story.
