  1. If it were me, and I had a choice whether or not to pursue Kira. I'd realistically be cheering kira. There's no way my ass can ever beat someone who can kill with a heart attack, and I'd be just happy that he's going after criminals and people who associate themselves with criminals (aka putting themselves in that situation).

  2. Would I stay on the Task Force and try to catch Kira? F*** NO! Not even going off what I already know from having watched the show already years ago (and I have the whole series on DVD), Kira can kill you without touching you AND isn't just going after criminals anymore. You try and stop Kira, then you are on Kira's death list. You may not know when, but sooner or later, you'll likely be killed by him. So yeah, leave me out of trying to catch Kira thanks.

And, given the info I DO know from watching the whole series? I'm not smart enough to go up against Light. No F***ing Way.

  3. In real life, I never wanted to be a police officer going up against normal criminals. I wanted to write books. So with no motivation to be a police officer just in a normal scenario, no way would I want to go up against a supernatural killer. That's just an extra no for me. But, hypothetically, if I was on the task force via some alternate version of myself and was given the option to quit, uh . . . I guess it would come down to Shane's factors. It would really depend on what the rest of my life was like and how much I would stand to lose if Kira came after me. If I had people I cared about, I wouldn't want to risk their safety because I was involved in the task force. Kira might kill them in an attempt to get to me, sort of thing. But if I was single and had nothing else going for me, then yeah, I'd probably stay. I'd be fascinated to figure out how Kira was doing all this.

  4. If I was a FBI agent, I would stay on the force because Light has gotta out of control. His immoral sense of right and wrong is twisted where he kills both evil and innocent people. At first, he was bringing justice and vengeance by killing evil people but when he started developing a God Complex, the power went to his head and now he is capable of killing innocent people. I would stay on the FBI force but start living in secret locations and keeping my information off the database and help L stop Light the psychotic, immoral one and bring Light to justice.

  5. I think it would count if he used carbon paper, because later on, we see that you can write in the Death Note with any material you want, including blood. As long as writing makes it on the page, then the Death Note will take effect.

  6. This episode is so fucked up to me i wouldn't think that if he just killed them but he made ray kill them so now ray cant go to heaven or hell while his wife and family can he now will go to nu( i think thats how you spell it) which is just nothingness

  7. I think Light is initially good, the moral of the story is that power corrupts even the best of people. Especially someone like Light, who has the intellect to use it. You'll see what I mean in a later arc.

  8. I dont know if you guys read these comments or not but if you recall about the rule that Ryuk tells to Light that whoever write names in Death Note can neither go to heaven nor hell. Well now we can see Light made Ray Penber write out the names of his colleagues so do you think that Ray can not also go to neither heaven nor hell

  9. Whether you're married or single, you have to think of the bigger picture. The threat of Kira needs to be nipped in the bud otherwise who is going to stop them from killing off anyone who opposes them? Granted it's terrifying facing an unknown weapon that kills people within the perimeters of revealing their name & face anywhere and at anytime. I understand the panels misgivings as there are too many invariables to risk a gamble on your life.
However, apathy in the face of evil has to be fought.
Ironically, Light is fighting this exact apathy & helplessness by extreme measures through the Death Note. He's taking risks and likely will lose his sanity & soul in the process but at least he's taking action unlike the majority of the police force who are on the fence.

  10. Guy gets killed for having multiple sexual assault allegations that were dismissed due to "lack of evidence." I feel like that the lack of evidence part is rather an important piece of information that was glossed over in justifying his death. How interesting that they reacted to this episode now out of all times, with all the politics currently going on about this, and especially after years of title ix abuses. It obviously wasn't as a hot of a topic back then as it is now.

  11. Light is NOT a nice guy. It's just going to get worse. Not that it matters. It's actually one of the most interesting elements of the show. The megalomaniac protagonist.

  12. There was no risk in the plan with Ray; Light wrote down every step in the Death Note as the circumstances of Ray's death. If it wasn't going to work, he would've died of a heart attack right away. The moment Light saw Ray at the station, he knew everything would work. Even if he had've touched the paper and seen Ryuk, he still somehow would've gotten the names down and died right outside the bus.
