If someone lives in a densely populated community and has had packages disappear before I can see them signing up for in-door delivery. I like my neighbors, so I don't need it, but I bet there ARE people who will sign up.
Amazon could simply train their delivery employee to spot the lock and you put the lock on a box to let them dump it there and you retrieve it then instead of having them wait infront of the door until you answer.
Its a good idea but done poorly really.

the amazon thing isnt as stupid as people are making it out to be but the US's average home layout isnt exactly ideal but here in the UK many of us have front porches that have a secondary locked door inside giving extra security just put the amazon key thing on the Outsite door and your off to the races
