Haha this is really far fetched.. But on topic: does your arguments of the black stone work in "reverse" too? Not marking landmarks to be utilised in the future, but was used in the past. I'm thinking whether the migration of the Andals, or even in the first men, would make sense in this regard? Coming from the south, through Essos before hitting Westeros?
This migration also the primary cause of the conflict with the children of the forest, hence why they ended up creating the white walkers..
But of course, this goes so far back in time, there would hardly be any lore to support it..
So I'd give it up to "artistic license" for these kind of theories 😉

What if instead of aliens, it's a sign that civilizations have collapsed and had to begin anew again and again? The old marks of civilization could even be man, but the great winters drive the inhabitants of the world to an almost extinction point, and they have to start over. That would mean at some point, maybe the humans in this world had a much higher point of technology and magic than they have during this age of civilization.

Actually we know almost exactly how old our world is. 4.6 billion years. The universe is 13.772 billion years old.

Didnt the Salt throne wash up on the beach? I think the amphibious race that live on the island with the giant toad statue have underwater cities made of black stone, they also brought it up to the surface to build structures long before the other races settled there. Perhaps the amphibious people are the oldest race and the Valrians were able discover some of secrets from the black stone ruins that let them build their own advanced city.
