The death of The Night King in Game Of Thrones was a standout moment in the final season, but a new theory believes it may have been borrowed from the realms of Bollywood.
In third episode The Long Night, Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) killed the White Walker leader by leaping through the air and delivering a specific knife bshe leaped through the air before pulling off a specific dagger switcharoo stabbing technique.
An unearthed clip from Indian TV drama Aladdin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga appears to show a remarkably similar death scene, with some claiming Game Of Thrones ripped it off from the show.
Reddit user u/Jugal0707 circulated the clip with the caption: ‘India did it before it was cool.’
The whole scene plays out very similarly, even from the grab of the throat to the dramatic knife drop against the bizarre skeleton.
The chances Game Of Thrones ripped off the idea, however, is slim. This episode of Aladdin aired in the middle of 2018 when the final season of Game Of Thrones had pretty much wrapped filming – so they’d have to pull off an impressive turnaround to make any last minute changes.
But still, it’s maybe a worthwhile reminder how Arya’s big moment isn’t so different from cinematic moments gone-by – no matter how obscure.
The final season of Game Of Thrones proved controversial in many respects, from coffee cups to the descent of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).
