Emily Carey plays Alicent Hightower (Picture: HBO)

Emily Carey has captivated audiences in House of the Dragon, playing a key role in the Game Of Thrones prequel which has aired two incredibly thrilling episodes thus far.

The 19-year-old portrays a young version of Alicent Hightower in the HBO fantasy drama, which tells the tale of House Targaryen 200 years before the birth of GoT’s Daenerys.

Alicent, childhood friend to Rhaenyra Targaryen, will play pivotal part in the series, which has already been renewed for a second season by broadcaster HBO, with Emily becoming a firm favourite with fans of the show.

But have you, like many of us, recognised Emily from a previous project and struggled to recall what exactly it is?

If so, the answer to that question may very well be Casualty!

Emily portrayed Grace Beachamp-Strachan, the daughter of much-loved senior consultant and TV icon Connie (Amanda Mealing).

Grace made her debut on our screens all the way back in 2014, and it soon became apparent that she and Connie had something of a difficult relationship, given her mum’s devotion to her profession.

The character featured in numerous storylines over the years, and was involved in a devastating car crash horror in 2016.

After appearing in a total of 41 episodes, Emily made her final appearance as Grace in Casualty in April 2021, which also happened to be the very episode in which Connie left.

We still miss them, to be quite honest!

Outside of Casualty, Emily also starred as young Diana in Wonder Woman, the critically acclaimed 2017 film which saw Gal Gadot make her solo debut as the title hero after an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice the previous year.

Emily also played the young version of Lara Croft in 2018 remake of Tomb Raider.

The Casualty star can currently be seen every Monday in House of the Dragon, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Alicent in the wake of recent developments.

House Of The Dragon is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW, with new episodes released at 2am on Mondays.
