While Ed Sheeran’s Game Of Thrones cameo wasn’t hugely popular, it definitely left us dying to know if the ginger popstar made it out alive in brutal Westeros.
Good news – the Shape Of You singer’s confirmed he’d still standing, but he’s been left in a pretty bad way.
Did you expect anything else from this show?
As Bronn and three prostitutes discussed ‘the ginger soldier’s’ fate during the season eight premiere, it was said that he had ‘come back with his face burned right off,’ adding that the character was now without his eyelids.
Ouch.
Ever the optimist, Ed looked on the bright side and wrote on his Instagram Stories: ‘Thanks @GameOfThrones, I knew I was a survivor x’.
That’s one way to look at it.
However, it may have come as a disappointment to the 28-year-old, after he previously explained he would have preferred his character to be killed off.
Speaking to Buzzfeed (while he played with kittens) Ed admitted he wanted the character to go.
He said: ‘It was fun being in Game of Thrones, but I definitely think they should’ve killed me off in the episode. I reckon that probably would’ve been the redemption for people that didn’t like it.’
He added: ‘No one wants to see me come back. I wanted to be a cameo in it, and I’ve done the cameo. I’m cool with it, though. I enjoyed it.’
However, that fate did befall It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney, who took an arrow to the eye as soon as he appeared on screen in the recent episode.
With the star being a superfan of the show, he didn’t seem bothered by his unfortunate ending, posting a pretty gruesome snap to Instagram.
‘Don’t blink. #gameofthrones,’ he wrote.
Meanwhile, other stars have been following Ed and Rob’s lead, attempting to land a part in the beloved fantasy series.
In a sketch on the Late Late Show, host James Corden and Andrew Garfield stripped off to prove the lengths they were willing to go to.
Corden, in a bid to channel Varys, the Unsullied and Theon Greyjoy, was willing to chop off his penis for the role. Garfield’s attempts to go method for Jaime Lannister, however, saw him willing to snog his sister.
We’re not sure whether to be impressed or terrified.
Game Of Thrones continues Sunday on HBO and Sky Atlantic, and is available to watch on NOW TV.
