Matthew seems simply dull and typically American, not a quick wit. And culturally challenged, and perhaps uptight.
The Norton shows work best with intelligent and quick witted people who are comfortable in their skins and with all types of people and subjects. On occasion he has had a yank that fits in but often they don't, especially the men, unless they are a bit drunk like Mark Wahlberg once was.
Too, Graham is very camp and that intimidates most american men particularly.

That was one of the sweetest moments ever on this show. Ed Sheeran so spontaneous and lovely to his old mate. Matthew sits there like a big pill, really dull yank. No sense of humour. Ed is adorable and luv the red hair.
