I'm fascinated by the fact that the same people who were saying Ed Skrein shouldn't be cast as Hellboy because the original character was Asian are now defending an all-female Lord of the Flies movie…despite the fact that the original characters were male…

What I dislike about this topic, is that the character is meant to be Asian, so if they cast a white guy, everyone goes insane, but if they cast any other minority, the majority would praise them for representing the minorities, what we need is not representation of minorities, we need representation of the the character as they are which an actor who plays that role to heart, not to skin tone

By this logic, Idris Elba should have turned down his roll as Roland because he, too, was race-swapped because "muh white male in film".
