Game Of Thrones’ final season is creeping up on us and the stars of the show (including some old favourites) were out in force to attend the premiere of series eight.
It’s now less than two weeks until GOT makes its big return and to say we’re excited is pretty much the biggest understatement of the century.
But, if show bosses wanted to get us all hyped up again, then seeing the cast come together in New York for the season eight premiere has certainly done the trick.
It was a Khaleesi and Khal Drogo reunion and we’ve always got time for that.
Emilia Clark (aka Khaleesi, aka Daenerys Targaryen) looked every inch the queen that she is as she arrived in a sheer tulle dress that she teamed with a very vampy and cool dark purple lipstick.
Usually a brunette, Emilia ditched Khaleesi’s ice blonde barnet for a sleek low bun, posing up a storm on the red carpet before joining the rest of her co-stars inside – including the aforementioned Khal Drogo.
Yup, Jason Momoa was back among the GOT cast and rocked up for the premiere of its final season with his wife Lisa Bonet.
Don’t get us wrong we love seeing old faces, but we’re slightly sobbing at the constant reminders that the world of Westeros is leaving us once and for all. And the season hasn’t even started yet…
Of course, Jon Snow was suited and booted for the occasion. Kit Harington arrived with wife Rose Leslie (Snow’s old love Ygritte), who looked so lovely in a one-shoulder scarlet red dress.
Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) was joined by fiance Joe Jonas at the premiere, along with Maisie Williams (Ayra Stark) and the girls were looking so fierce alongside each other on the red carpet.
Sophie went for a dramatic smokey eye and embellished black mini dress, while Maisie played it cool teaming her purple hair with a ruffled floor-length number.
Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) joined them inside, while author of the Game Of Thrones books George R. R. Martin also stopped by.
Martin has said that the Game Of Thrones ending onscreen will be different to how it is played out in the books.
The TV series has actually overtaken the books, as Martin is still yet to finish them – something he admits he wished he’d done sooner.
He admits that he ‘never anticipated’ he’d be playing catch up with the TV show and speaking to Rolling Stone, Martin said: ‘I’ve been so slow with these books.
‘The major points of the ending will be things I told them five or six years ago. But there may also be changes, and there’ll be a lot added.’
The final season has pretty much been on lockdown with even the cast under firm orders not to give anything away (yes, we’re looking at you Maisie…) but fans have been given a taste of what’s to come in a trailer for season eight.
It was pretty ominous and teased the aftermath of the battle for the Iron Throne, with fans now fearing for the lives of Jaime Lannister and Jon Snow.
Only time will tell what really happens here, but fans aren’t exactly filled with hope as a new GOT poster seemed to show all our favourites well, pretty much dead. Eek.
But, fans will be getting one last hurrah, as HBO have confirmed they’ll be airing a two-hour, behind-the-scenes Game Of Thrones documentary when the final season wraps up for good.
A statement released by the network revealed: ‘Made with unprecedented access, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production.
‘[It follows] the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.
‘Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.’
Game Of Thrones series eight returns 15 April. And seasons one to seven are currently available on NOW TV.
