What are the Game of Thrones stars during the long wait for season 8 (besides filming season 8, we mean)? Let’s find out.
As always, departed cast members are doing just fine, thank you. For example, Channel 24 reports that Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) has joined the cast of the popular BBC drama Peaky Blinders, about a real-life street gang that operated in Birmingham following World War I, for its fourth season. You can see him in the trailer below around 0:38, sporting long hair and twirling a gun. Neither of those things are very Littlefinger, but Littlefinger’s dead and whoever Gillen plays here is alive, so maybe that’s a good thing.
Peaky Blinders season 4 is “coming soon.” Also, people who make trailers sure do like covers of “Wicked Game.”
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that a king’s random of Game of Thrones cast members — old and new — are joining the cast of Hang Ups, an English remake of Showtime’s Emmy-nominated Web Therapy series. The show, about a therapist dealing with a crumbling practice, will star Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister), Conleth Hill (Varys), Harry Lloyd (Viserys Targaryen) and Richard E. Grant (Izembaro). And also David Tennant from Doctor Who. There’s no release date for the six-episode remake, but we have the original as a guide to what we can expect:
Moving on to one of our heavy-hitters, The Hollywood Reporter has it that Emilia Clarke (Daenerys, as if you didn’t know) became one of the most popular actors on social media, at least for this past week. The Top Actors chart ranks popularity using metrics taken from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus. Clarke’s new platinum blonde hairdo helped propel her to No. 5 on the list, right ahead of Kevin Hart and right before Jennifer Lopez. (Naturally, the Rock is No. 1.)
Elsewhere on Instagram, John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) ran into a fan: soccer legend and Posh Spice-husband David Beckham, who was apparently “star struck” by the encounter.
That has to be a nice little ego-booster, no?
In crew stories, Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi gives an interview about one of his latest, non-GoT projects: The Mountain Between Us, about a pair of strangers who crash-land in the High Uintas Wilderness of Utan and must struggle to survive. It’s due out in October, and as the video below shows, we can expect Djawadi to bring his sonic best.
Finally, Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) talked briefly to Raising Films about her recent pregnancy. Congratulations and all that, but will it complicate things when it comes to shooting Game of Thrones season 8? “GoT had wrapped for season 7 before I was pregnant and IF I’m in the next series the baby will be here already so no giant belly for Yara!”
