Emilia Clarke struggled to look in the mirror after undergoing surgery during her brain aneurysm ordeal.
Back in March, the Game Of Thrones star revealed that she was diagnosed with the haemorrhages eight years ago in 2011 and was forced to undergo extensive operations.
She penned her experience for the New York Times and later shared never-before-seen photos from her hospital bed, where she was seen with a drip taped to head.
32-year-old Emilia previously said she had feared for her life throughout the scary ordeal and in a new interview with Stylist, she claims the whole experience changed how she felt about herself.
So much so, that she couldn’t look at herself in the mirror after her surgery.
Speaking to Stylist, Emilia heartbreakingly said: ‘After my operations, I didn’t want to look at my own face.’
She explained that her face ‘didn’t change’ following surgery, but admitted: ‘When I looked in the mirror, I just saw pain in my eyes.
‘I found it very, very difficult… I used to put on make-up without looking in the mirror, which probably made me look a lot worse.’
Emilia suffered her first aneurysm during a workout, where she claims she knew ‘my brain was damaged’, and a second while filming on set for Game Of Thrones.
At the worst of it, Emilia admits she feared for her own life and wanted to ‘pull the plug’.
But, she says that playing Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO series actually helped her to get through her medical ordeal.
‘You go on set an you play a bada*s and you walk through fire – that became the thing that saved me from considering my mortality.’
