The 32-year-old Game of Thrones star, who has played Daenerys Targaryen since the fantasy epic began in 2011, admitted she enjoys gentler TV when she’s not working, telling BBC Radio 1: “There’s two genres that you’ll find me in. A lot of the time you’re filming such intense stuff and you’re literally like, I can’t get involved in a really beautiful movie or in a really great TV series that’s going to haunt my dreams,” Emilia Clarke explained. “So, Grand Designs — ain’t nothing wrong with it! MasterChef — hello! Lovely.”

However, she said the likes of Hell’s Kitchen was too much on top of some of the heavier projects she works on.

“I can’t handle that,” she said. “It’s too much shouting. At least with MasterChef, it’s chill.

“It’s very impressive, I do love it,” Emilia added. “I’m a foodie, I love cooking. And Grand Designs as well is just chill.

“Also, Kirsty [Allsop] on Location, Location, Location. I think it’s probably very clear I do watch daytime television,” the Game of Thrones star laughed.

“Every once in a while you’re like, I need to turn my brain off, I’m just going to see what property is doing in London at the moment.”

Emilia went on to say Escape to the Country was “something I’ve not spent very much time in but I sense I’d like”.

The blonde beauty is best known for playing the Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones and recently took on the role of Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

She has also had parts in the likes of Terminator Genisys and Me Before You.

This year, the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is set to air, bringing to an end the much-loved series, based on the stories by George R. R. Martin.

Elsewhere, Emilia keeps her fans updated on her life away from the screen with regular Instagram posts.

She marked the new year with a trip to the beach with her boyfriend Charlie McDowell, 35, smiling for an atmospheric picture with the ocean as a backdrop.

Vowing to “laugh more” in the coming year, she wrote in the caption: “Just for the halibut.

“I’m resolving to try to laugh more in 2019 than 2018. Join me if you feel like it.”

She also added the hashtag: “#youareyourownbestbetbaby.”

The actress also uploaded a blurry shot of charlie running barefoot into the sea, saying: “Oh 2018 you went by in a flash and a blur.

“Dear Instaworld I truly hope your 2019 is full of contentment, laughter and recycling,” she penned.
