The 32-year-old Game of Thrones actress, who is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO fantasy drama, is currently in a relationship with Charlie McDowell, 35. The American-born director revealed his devastation at losing his pet pooch Marvin in a touching Instagram post to his 9,000 followers at the weekend. “Marvin, I can’t quite comprehend this reality of my life without you,” Emilia Clarke’s famous boyfriend wrote. “You have been my shadow and I have been yours for 14 years. All the memories of my adult life, both good and bad, have you right there next to me.
“You taught me more about myself than any school or human ever could,” Charlie continued. “Our love for each other was mutual and perfectly in synced.
“We were meant for each other, that much I know for sure. I feel completely unbalanced without you.
“To know that I will wake up tomorrow and not have to take you outside, feed you, talk to you, sing to you, pet you, kiss you; is just profoundly sad. It makes no sense,” he penned. “I understand that eventually it will, but right now I’m lost and gutted without you.
“I love you more than any words can describe, but I think you already know that.
“I don’t know where or how I’ll see you again, but sure hope I get the chance. Goodbye my sweet boy. Rest peacefully.”
Charlie also uploaded a series of sweet snaps of pug Marvin, one of which saw them posing together for a selfie.
The writer and director is the son of actors Malcolm McDowell, 75, and Mary Steenburgen, 65.
He previously dated Rooney Mara, 33.
The star appeared to go public with Game of Thrones favourite Emilia back in October when she celebrated her 32nd birthday with him.
As well as her role as the Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones, Emilia has also appeared in the likes of Me Before You, Terminator Genisys and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
She is currently shooting a new rom com called Last Christmas, which features Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, 31, as her love interest.
Last year, Emilia finished filming for Game of Thrones season eight, marking her last scenes in the final series.
Having been playing Daenerys for 10 years, she previously owned up about saying goodbye to the character, telling the Daily Mail: “It’s over and I cried like a baby on the last day.
“I felt completely lost. 10 years is a long time,” she added. “It’s lie losing an actual limb.
“I was 22 — a child — when I first walked on the Game of Thrones set. I grew up with her.”
Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
