Emilia Clarke had a very awkward run-in with a surprisingly vocal critic about the final season of Game of Thrones and fans are defending their Khaleesi.
The actress is currently on the promo trail for her new Christmas movie Last Christmas, which features the music of the late George Michael and his band Wham!
Speaking to Radio 1, the 33-year-old opened up about a very awkward run-in she had in the supermarket of all places with someone who was definitely not happy about Daenerys’ shocking turn as the Mad Queen.
‘It really hurt, it genuinely cut me up a little bit,’ she revealed. ‘I was in a supermarket, the day after episode five aired of the last season when Daenerys had just gone…all out.
Imagine meeting Emilia f*cking Clarke in the supermarket and being so rude to her because of a TV show…… im ready to beat this ugly bitch up

‘I was in the supermarket and this woman turned to me and went “I don’t know how you can show your face around here”.’
Which, to be fair, is very, very harsh – she was only popping out to get some milk and she didn’t really commit genocide!
Clarke continued: ‘It was heartbreaking! It’s funny now, but then it was real sad!’
Criticism of the final season of Game of Thrones is nothing new, however, but we’re pretty sure this is the first time a member of the cast has been lambasted over it in the middle of a supermarket.
The Terminator: Genysis star has previously opened up about the backlash the last season of Thrones received from both critics and fans like. She told This Morning that she found it ‘flattering’ that people were so passionate about the ending of the show.
‘I don’t read anything online really because doesn’t help my brain, but largely speaking I think people are being really kind about Daenerys and Mother Dragon and backing me up, so that’s lovely.’
She continued: ‘I don’t think there’s an ending that anyone could’ve written.
‘No matter how many signatures were on any bit of paper, you just can’t and that is really just so flattering.’
Although we did discover one behind-the-scenes secret that could have easily explained the controversial Mad Queen twist that got this one fan in particular so hot under the collar.
Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are now available the stream on NOW TV.
