Emilia Clarke never ceases to surprise us with her infectious smile, incredible talent, and philanthropic efforts. And now she’s an comic book author: her new comic, M.O.M.: Mother of Madness, hits the stands on July 21.
The Mother of Dragons took to Instagram to share her excitement about the project, which is a three-issue graphic novel about a single mom and scientist named Maya who gets superpowers and uses them to take on a group of human traffickers.
Clarke says that the comic has been “taking up my entire heart and soul for the last two years” as she worked on it with the all-female creative team. “This is all about being badass, beautiful, fierce, fabulous, superhero women.”
In other Game of Thrones veteran news, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau continues to take on the challenges of climate change as he stops by The Week with Joshua Johnson. Game of Thrones filmed in some of the most beautiful countries in the world, including Iceland, Croatia and Northern Ireland. As it turns out, the show may have captured some of the last records of how these parts of the world once looked.
With the global climate rapidly changing, landscapes are facing immense environmental changes, and tackling this dilemma is something near and dear to Coster-Waldau’s heart. Hear his thoughts on the subject below:
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Maisie Williams fight for the environment
As Coster-Waldau says, people are always questioning climate change and asking “when is it going to happen.” According to the actor, these changes occur over years and years, so while sheets of ice may not melt in the next 10 years, in 100 years, it could become a huge problem. It all makes it hard to convince people of the importance of the issue.
He turns to Game of Thrones for inspiration, citing how the show promoted “the basic concept of coming together to deal with a common issue.”
While we’re on the topic of climate change, here’s a picture of Maisie Williams celebrating Earth Day, and promoting a campaign called Choose Love:
Donations to Choose Love go to support indigenous leaders in Brazil who are trying to protect the rainforest from destruction. If you’re interested, you can make a donation directly or purchase the shirt Williams is wearing above.
