Game of Thrones veterans are out there, doing good and getting gigs. Let’s check in with them.
First up, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is reaching out to survivors of domestic abuse in the UK to let them know that #YouAreNotAlone, and to help direct them towards resources provided by the UK government. It’s part of a broader movement to combat domestic violence in the time of COVID-19, where it’s seen an uptick.
For far too many home isn’t a safe place for those living with domestic abuse. I want to reach out and connect to anyone reading this who may feel scared in their own homes during this time.
At home should not mean at risk – we support you. #YouAreNotAlone.
If you, or anyone you know is at risk of, or experiencing domestic abuse, you can leave your home to seek refuge. The police will respond to your calls and support services remain available.
Call 999 if you are in immediate danger. If you can’t speak and are calling from a mobile, listen to the operator and, when prompted, dial 55 to be connected to the police who will help.
If you suspect a neighbour or someone you know is currently experiencing domestic abuse please do call 999 and let them take the situation forward.Especially at christmas time we all need to play our part in supporting our friends, family, neighbours and communities at this time. No-one should be scared of their partner or family member. There is #NoExcuseForAbuse. Let’s do what we can to look after each other.

For something a little more in-your-face, come January 16, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) will step into the ring with Steven Ward, the oldest professional boxer in the world (he retired in 2017 at the end of 61).
Yeesh, I hope Björnsson goes easy on him…or maybe it should be the other way around. Björnsson may be huge, but professional boxers are no joke at any age.
