If Game of Thrones fans have had one qualm against George R.R. Martin, it’s his notoriously slow finishing of the books. Fans have been awaiting the arrival of his next book The Winds of Winter for almost a decade now and we just maybe finally getting closer to its arrival. Read on to find out more!

Martin recently took to his own blog, Not a Blog, and gave some good news amidst the doom and gloom of Coronavirus outbreak. Martin is currently in self-isolation due to the virus spread. However, courtesy of his self-isolation he is finally writing daily and said that things are looking quite dire in his story too.

He also said that he is doing fine and is aware that he needs to take care of himself amidst the chaos.

He wrote:

“For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going into town or seeing anyone.”

Then came the good news for the fans as he wrote:

“Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day.”

But not everything is good in his stories either. Although not as bad as in real life.

“Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms … but maybe not as grim as they may become here. I cannot help feeling as if we are all now living in a science fiction novel. But not, alas, the sort of science fiction novel that I dreamed of living in when I was a kid, the one with the cities on the Moon, colonies on Mars, household robots programmed with the Three Laws, and flying cars. I never liked the pandemic stories half so well… As ancient as I am, I cannot recall ever having lived through anything like the past few weeks.”

If you have been following our posts, Martin had promised that he would be completing the book by summer 2020 but clearly that’s not happening. Well, they say there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and for the fans of Martin’s book, him writing every day is the best possible news.
