Game of Thrones Season 8 is nearly four months or lesser away from its day of airing and while we prepare for the new season, every week a new update or two keeps beefing up. First, we got the first exclusive image of Jon and Daenerys on the cover of Entertainment Weekly where they also shared a cover story revealing some details about the opening scene from the new season.
Now, it’s the turn of another popular magazine – TV Guide who have published another cover story interviewing cast members Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, and the showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff. TV Insider first elaborated this story, where David Benioff and D B Weiss opened up on how the things may go wrong as now both Jon and Daenerys are in love and that they are connected. They also discussed the scope of the new season.
Benioff first teased the new season, remarking:
“The scope of this season definitely exceeds anything we’ve attempted before.”
Jon Snow’s heritage was the top secret that Ned Stark has kept from the entire Westeros 17 years prior to his friend’s rebellion against the Targaryens. Now that world’s biggest CCTV archive Bran Stark and the Citadel dropout Samwell Tarly have finally cracked the code, Weiss said:
“From a dramatic standpoint, it makes things interesting, because the story is no longer about who Jon’s parents are. It’s about what happens when Jon finds out.”
Jon’s parents Rhaegar and Lyanna have been the key propelling factors of the story, and even the title is based on the song they’ve metaphorically written down i.e. Jon Snow – the song of Ice and Fire. Also, we’ve already known the truthfulness Jon has with his Stark blood, given the way he almost messed things with Cersei, saying “I cannot serve two queens at once.” (Cersei would betray them anyway, won’t she?). Kit reacts to Jon finding of his heritage and his relation with Dany,
“Jon is someone who plays by the book. He cannot lie,” He said. “Finding out about Dany would be very hard for him.”
Emilia too has her own ways of reacting to Jon and Dany’s blooming relationship and how it may play out in Season 8. She said:
“Daenerys’s lifelong dream has been to avenge her family and claim her rightful seat on the Iron Throne. She truly loves Jon. Were she to find out about his title, it would cut deep.”
Yet, we guess we’ll find out more about it once the new season finally airs in April. Till then we can hope they release the official trailer and the date of airing soon! What were your thoughts on these small talks of the cast members and showrunners? Tell us in the comments section down below.
