The Venture Bros., a hopelessly idiosyncratic show about a lazy scientist and his emotionally stunted twin sons, premiered on Adult Swim waaaaaay back in 2003. Every couple of years thereafter, creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer would gift fans with another season, spurred on by love of the game, since the show got stranger and more complicated as it went on and by the end it’s hard to believe many fans outside of the hardcore set were watching.
But for those who remained, what a show this was. The Venture Bros. satirized everything from DC Comics to Johnny Quest to the collected works of David Bowie, all the while developing sympathetic characters on both sides of the hero-villain divide and building up a mythology so complex it would make the average MCU fan blow a circuit. The show has definitely gotten under my skin, so I was sad when the seventh season seemed to be the end. And it finished on a cliffhanger, no less!
Happily, the show is getting a movie to wrap everything up. It has an extremely Venture Bros.-esque title: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart.
What does that mean? Who cares? Put it in my veins. Watch the trailer below:

As always, it looks like Publick and Hammer are throwing the kitchen sink in with this one; the show ended with a lot of plot threads left dangling and a lot of characters to catch up with, and the movie looks like it will try to service every last one of them.
Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t give us a release date, expect to say that it’s coming to digital and Blu-ray. Word is that it’ll be out this year and streaming on Max.
